About Fukaya City
Fukaya City is located in northern Saitama Prefecture, sandwiched between the Tone River and the Arakawa River. Its climate is inland, with many sunny days throughout the year. During the Edo period, it thrived as a post town on the Nakasendo road. Today, it has developed into one of Saitama Prefecture's leading agricultural regions, boasting the highest shipment volume of Fukaya green onions in Japan. Tulip and other flower cultivation is also thriving. In recent years, an industrial park has been developed, and the city is functioning as an industrial city. Major tourist attractions include Fukaya Castle Park, Aqua Paradise Patio, the remains of Hitomikankan, the former Kitane Magistrate's Office (a prefectural historic site), and the Kashima Kofun Burial Mounds. Fukaya City's mascot, "Fukka-chan," placed fifth in the Yuru-chara Grand Prix.
