Yamanashi City is known as the birthplace of Koshu wine and for being home to Iwashita Onsen, the prefecture's longest-running hot spring. Its neighboring municipalities include Kofu City and other Yamanashi prefecture municipalities, as well as Chichibu City in Saitama Prefecture and Kawakami Village in Nagano Prefecture. As a producer of Koshu wine, grape cultivation is thriving. The city is also famous for its thriving peach cultivation. Yamanashi Prefecture Fuefuki River Fruit Park and Mitomi Roadside Station are popular tourist spots in Yamanashi City, and in addition to Iwashita Onsen mentioned at the beginning, the city has several other hot springs. In addition to grapes and peaches, the city's specialty products also include cherries and strawberries. The pine is designated as the city's tree, and the azalea as the city's flower, both beloved by local residents.
