Most of Tsuru City's territory is mountainous, with the city center located on flat land between the mountains and valleys. Tsuru City borders eight other municipalities, including Fujiyoshida City and Otsuki City. The city is home to Tsuru University, which means it has a large population of residents around the age of 20. This is because students who move to the city to enroll transfer their residency there. Famous attractions in the city include Tahara Falls and Soryukyo Gorge. Takara no Yama Fureai no Sato, a popular facility, offers hands-on activities that allow visitors to fully enjoy nature. The city also hosts events such as the Hassaku Festival and the Tsuru Industry Festival.
