About Oshino Village
Oshino Village, Minamitsuru District, is home to the Oshino Hakkai, a group of springs. It is a natural monument and has been selected as one of Japan's 100 best water sources. Oshino Village, blessed with such abundant natural blessings, even has its own village animal, the squirrel. The village's Shinokusa Sengen Shrine is an Important Cultural Property and is known for its Kamakura-period statue of a deity. After the war, the village developed through freshwater fish farming and tourism. With its abundant natural resources, many tourists visit for these purposes. The village is also home to the Yamanashi Prefectural Fuji Spring Water Village Aquarium. Opened in 2001, this aquarium attracted attention as the first of its kind in Yamanashi Prefecture.
