Hirao Town, Kumage District, is located in the southeastern part of Yamaguchi Prefecture, bordering three other cities and towns within the prefecture. Mount Ohoshi and Mount Mino tower over the town, forming part of the Seto Inland Sea National Park and blessed with abundant nature. Agriculture is thriving, with mandarin oranges and taro cultivated. Many historical sites remain in the area, including the Kankayama Kofun and Shiratori Kofun, and the Historical and Folklore Museum displays numerous artifacts excavated from the Jomon and Yayoi periods. Hirao Port Park, Hirao Sports and Recreation Park, and Horikawa Park are also popular, with extensive leisure facilities available. The Hirao Specialty Products Center sells bento boxes made with locally sourced ingredients, along with other local specialties.
