The town's abundant rain and snow provide a rich water resource, supporting numerous plant and animal life. Outdoor sports and events utilizing the snow are also popular. The town's industrial structure is centered on the secondary industry, having been developed through the construction of hydroelectric power plants that utilize the abundant water resources, and the use of electricity to produce ferrosilicon ferroalloys.
