About Iide Town
Iide Town, Nishiokitama District, is located in southern Yamagata Prefecture and is surrounded by the Iide Mountain Range, Shirakawa River, and Shirakawa Dam Lake. The town's specialty is doburoku, and it has been designated a special doburoku zone. Products produced in the town include doburoku cake, doburoku manju, doburoku monaka (a type of monaka wafer), and doburoku soft serve ice cream. Approximately 80% of the nationally renowned brand of Yonezawa beef is shipped from Iide Town. Major tourist attractions include the Dondendaira Lily Garden, said to be one of the largest in eastern Japan, the Tourist Warabi Garden, the Source Forest, Iide Park, and the Iide Astronomical Observatory. The town also boasts four hot springs. The Tsubaki Nembutsu Dance (Tsubaki Nembutsu Dance) has been designated an intangible cultural asset by the town.
