Oe Town, Nishimurayama District, is a long, narrow region. While it is mountainous, the further east you go, the lower the elevation becomes, creating a unique topography where houses are scattered. Oe Town, Nishimurayama District, has an inland climate, meaning that it is hot and humid in the summer. However, in the winter, it receives a lot of snow, and the temperature difference between morning and evening is large. The town takes advantage of this climate to cultivate crops, which is likely why it produces so many fruits with high sugar content. In addition, every summer, the Suigo Oe Summer Festival, featuring floating lanterns and fireworks, is held, attracting many visitors. This festival is one of the oldest in Yamagata Prefecture.
