Apples are cultivated primarily on the river terraces along the Mogami River. Apple cultivation in Asahi Town, Nishimurayama District, dates back to the Meiji period. This tradition continues to this day in this region. The entire town is committed to apple production, and even has an ordinance for "Asahi Town Apple Day" specifically for apples. Apples are shipped not only within Japan but also around the world. Apples are exported to various countries such as Taiwan and Singapore, and the town is actively engaged in cultural exchange to revitalize the region.
