Tozawa Village, Mogami District, is located in northern Yamagata Prefecture, bordered by the Dewa Mountains to the west, the Shinjo Basin to the east, and the Mogami River through the center. The village's mountains include Mount Hiuchi, Mount Tachihara, and Mount Kenzaki, and its rivers include the Mogami River, Sakegawa River, and Kadokawa River. Long ago, the village flourished as a key waterway connecting the Shonai and Mogami regions.
