Kaminoyama City lies in the southeastern part of Yamagata Prefecture, at the foot of the Zao mountain range. Kaminoyama City was a post town on the Oshu Kaido road and also flourished as the castle town of the Kaminoyama Domain. The city is home to Kaminoyama Onsen, and the hot spring town is made up of seven areas. A hot spring pass is available, allowing you to enjoy seven public baths at a low price. In the fall, Tsukioka Shrine holds the Kaminoyama Chrysanthemum Festival, where you can see colorful chrysanthemums. The city's climate is relatively warm, with little snowfall and rare severe weather such as storms, making it a comfortable area to live in. Also, thanks to the hot spring resort, hot spring manju is a local specialty. Cherries and La France pears are also famous.
