Hidaka Town, Hidaka District, Wakayama Prefecture, is a coastal region characterized by a warm climate throughout the year. Rice and vegetables are cultivated primarily on the plains, while fruit is grown in the mountains. This is an ideal environment for growing a variety of crops. In addition to the vegetables and fruits grown in this natural environment, the town's main specialty is black bamboo. Considered rare nationwide, it is one of the region's prides. Akou and bush clover are the town's symbols. The grouper, also known as the mythical fish, also has a deep connection to the town. It can be caught offshore from this area, and is currently one of the ways to revitalize the region.
