Innami Town in Hidaka County is an area made up of various mountains, hills, and plateaus, and is divided into two parts: the coastal area and the mountainous area. There can be a slight difference in temperature between these two areas. The coastal area has a warm climate due to the influence of the Kuroshio Current, while the mountainous area is cold and subject to snowfall. Local specialties include agricultural crops such as peas, watermelon, and cherry tomatoes. Wasabi, a product often associated with Nagano Prefecture, is also famous. Mazuma wasabi is said to have originated in this area. A major event is the Innami Hachiman Shrine, where a lion dance is dedicated to the festival, held every October. The sight of portable shrines colliding against each other is a powerful sight.
