Uozu City, Toyama Prefecture, faces the Sea of Japan. Mirages can be seen in Toyama Bay. As a port town with a lot of ship traffic, the fishing industry is thriving. Firefly squid, yellowtail, white shrimp, and red snow crab are all caught here. Leisure spots include Mirage Land, which features an amusement park, pool, and barbecue area; the Seaside Station Mirage; and Uozu General Park. Nature-rich parks include Uozu General Park and Uozu Momoyama Sports Park. Events include the Atago Shrine Fire Festival in January, the Uozu Shinkiro Marathon in April, the Sengoku Roshi Festival in May, and the Uozu Shrine Festival in June. Local specialties include the Tomodo pear, grown in the Honjo and Tomodo areas, and the Nishifuse grapes, grown in the Nishifuse area.
