Namerikawa City, located in eastern Toyama Prefecture, prospered as a post town on the Hokuriku Kaido road. With easy access to neighboring Toyama City and Uozu City, the city is developing as a commuter town. While the city does not have an airport, Toyama City has one, which is accessible in 30 to 40 minutes. Firefly squid fishing is also popular, with the Firefly Squid Festival held in April and the Firefly Squid Marathon in October. There's also a Firefly Squid Museum. From mid-April to early May, tours are held where you can observe firefly squid fishing. Leisure spots include Gyoda Park, which was selected as one of the 100 best waters of the Heisei era, Hayatsukigawa Onsen, and Namerikawa Civic Communication Plaza.
