Kurobe City, located in eastern Toyama Prefecture and facing the Sea of Japan, boasts a thriving tourism industry, including the Kurobe Gorge Railway and Unazuki Onsen. The Kurobe Gorge, stretching from the midstream to upper reaches of the Kurobe River, is designated a Special Natural Monument by the national government. It is also one of Japan's Top 100 Unexplored Places and one of Japan's Three Great Gorges. Unazuki Onsen is lined with hotels and inns along the Kurobe River valley. It is the largest hot spring town in Toyama Prefecture.
