Yonago City, Tottori Prefecture, is located in the western part of Tottori Prefecture, almost in the center of San'in. The city is rich in nature, surrounded by Mt. Daisen National Park, also known as Hoki Fuji, to the east, the Sea of Japan to the north, and Lake Nakaumi, Japan's fifth-largest brackish lake, to the west. A city with a history dating back to before Christ, it flourished as a castle town during the Edo period, and continues to thrive as a commercial city, inheriting its culture and character. Yonago City is also known for its seaside hot springs, and the city boasts a variety of tourist attractions, including Kaike Onsen and Kaike Onsen Beach. White leeks are a famous local product, and the Yonegis, a family of three based on white leeks: Negitao, Negiko, and Negipo, are beloved city mascots.
