About Yatsuzu Town
Yazu Town, Yazu District, Tottori Prefecture, is located in the southeastern part of Tottori Prefecture. It was formed in 2005 by the merger of three towns in Yazu District, including Gunge Town. Tourist attractions in Yazu Town include Seiryuji Temple, which houses the standing statues of Jikokuten and Tamonten, both designated as Important Cultural Properties of Japan, and the Fukumoto Ohatsuki Ginkgo, a prefectural natural monument and deeply revered by locals as a sacred tree. Kajiya Onsen and Funaoka Bijin no Yu are also popular destinations, especially among women. Fruits such as persimmons and pears are well established as local specialties, and Hanagosho persimmons, known as the sweetest persimmons in Japan, are grown only in the Inaba region of eastern Tottori Prefecture, making it a great place to enjoy freshly picked, delicious persimmons.
