Wakasa Town in Yazu District is blessed with a rich natural environment and rich historical and cultural heritage. Located in the southeastern part of Tottori Prefecture, Mount Hyono stretches out in the background. Heavy snowfalls in the winter make Mount Hyono and Mount Hachibuse popular ski resorts. It is characterized by being a high peak similar to Mount Chugoku, and is lush with beech trees and other plants. In the summer, the cooler temperatures make it a popular hiking spot. Annual events include the Kawashita Festival and the Hamasaka Hometown Summer Festival Fireworks Display. This is one of the longest-running events, said to date back to the Edo period. Many visitors look forward to the fantastic view of the fireworks reflected on the sea.
