Founded in 1953, Kurayoshi City merged with several surrounding municipalities in 2005. Part of Tottori Prefecture, the area boasts a nostalgic townscape and atmosphere. Local specialties include crops such as tomatoes, shiitake mushrooms, and watermelon, as well as rock trout and wagyu beef. The economy has stabilized thanks to the production of these crops, primarily agricultural production. Kurayoshi City is home to the Tottori Nijisseiki Pear Memorial Museum, known as Nashikkokan. This museum offers detailed information about pears, and is a family-friendly leisure spot where you can enjoy pears year-round. The Shirakabe Dozogun (White Wall Storehouses) and Kurayoshi Line Railway Memorial Museum create an atmosphere that evokes the scenery of the past.
