Okutama Town, Nishitama District, Tokyo, is located west of the capital, bordering Akiruno City and Ome City. Rich in nature, including mountains, rivers, and lakes, it is also the area with the most snowfall in Tokyo. Rail and bus routes run through the area, and its proximity to Yamanashi and Saitama Prefectures makes it easy to get to. Tourist attractions include the Nippara Limestone Cave and Omasu Limestone Cave, both of which are cool even in summer; the Tokyo Metropolitan Okutama Lakeside Park Yama no Furusato Village, which offers restaurants, campgrounds, and a craft center; and Tsuru no Yu Onsen, a mixed hot spring with three hot springs. Local events include the Okutama Summer Fireworks Festival and the Ogochi Kashima Dance in the fall.
