Musashimurayama City is known as the only city in Tokyo without a train line, and transportation is primarily via buses and automobiles. Tokyo Metropolitan Route 5, Shinjuku-Ome Line, is the main road. Tea and fruit cultivation is thriving, with mandarin oranges and grapes grown along Ome-kaido and pears and apples grown south of Shin-Ome-kaido. As a result, there are many orchards in the city where you can enjoy fruit picking. The city's largest event, the Murayama Deedara Festival, named after the legend of the giant Deedarabochi, is also famous and attracts many visitors every year. The Musashimurayama City Tourist Summer Fireworks Festival, which lights up the midsummer night sky, is also a popular event.
