Komatsushima City, Tokushima Prefecture, is located in the eastern part of the prefecture, bordering Tokushima City and Anan City. The city is blessed with abundant nature, including rivers, mountains, and the sea, and its mascot is Komapon. Komapon is the image character of the region's famous Kincho Tanuki raccoon, dressed as a military commander. The city is also a thriving agricultural region, producing shiitake mushrooms, rice, strawberries, and mandarin oranges, as well as fishing, producing dried baby sardines and conger eel. Other local specialties include bamboo chikuwa and Japanese bay peaches. Tourist attractions in the area include Himine Okamiko Regional Park, located on the border with Tokushima City. The Komatsushima City Cross Country Meet is held in February, and the Kincho Festival is held in May.
