Mugi Town, Kaifu District, is located in the southeast of Tokushima Prefecture, with its downtown area stretching along the Mugi River. The town has a coastline lined with steep cliffs, and in the past was known as a difficult section of the Tosa Kaido road. Roads have now been improved, and the Minami Awa Sun Line is a popular driving course with beautiful scenery. Mugi Town, Kaifu District, has three islands offshore, and the area is also popular as a fishing spot, thanks to the warm Kuroshio Current. Fishing is popular for rock bream and grunt, making it the perfect spot for boat fishing. The town is famous for its specialties, bonito flakes and dried chirimen.
