About Kitajima Town
Kitajima Town in Itano County borders cities and towns in Tokushima Prefecture. It is the smallest municipality in Tokushima Prefecture, but its proximity to Tokushima City has led to its development as a commuter town, and its population is increasing year by year. The Imagiri River and Nabe River flow through the town, making it a thriving agricultural region. Lotus root fields stretch across the old Yoshino River, and are shipped outside the prefecture. Other crops grown include sweet potatoes, radishes, spinach, and cabbage. Cut tulips are also popular. There is a tulip park in the town, where a tulip fair is held in the spring. Tourist attractions include the standing statue of the Eleven-Headed Kannon, the Yumetsuge Jizo, and the seated statue of Yakushi Nyorai.
