Iwafune Town, Shimotsuga District, in the southern part of Tochigi Prefecture, is a hilly region that is part of the Kanto Plain. The area is centered around Mt. Iwafune, from which the town takes its name. Blessed with natural beauty, the town offers a very tranquil lifestyle. The Tohoku Expressway runs through the west side of town. There is also a train station, so transportation is not an issue. Iwafune-san Kosho-ji Temple is one of Japan's three great Jizo statues, along with Mount Osore. Many worshippers visit every year, believing they can grant them the blessing of fertility. At Iwafune Fruit Park, you can eat and purchase seasonal fruits. Fresh locally grown vegetables are also available for purchase.
