About Otawara City
Otawara City, which merged with other prefectures in Tochigi Prefecture in 2005, is a region blessed with a rich natural environment. In addition to native plants such as dogtooth violets and adonis flowers, the city is home to the clean waters of the Hoki River and Naka River. The city was established in 2005 through the merger of Yutsukami Village and Kurobane Town. Its main specialties include sweetfish (ayu) and honey. Nakagawa Water Park, Tochigi Prefecture, is a well-known tourist spot in the city. Here, families can enjoy exhibits and hands-on activities themed around water, nature, and fish. The Yoichi-no-Sato Otawara Sakuyama Summer Fireworks Festival is also held annually. Its Niagara Falls is large-scale and attracts many visitors.
