Nikko City, Tochigi Prefecture, was formed through a merger in 2006 and is the largest city in the prefecture. In addition to being blessed with a rich natural environment, the city is also home to many historical and cultural heritage sites, as well as a vibrant hot spring resort. Local specialties include yuzu and soba noodles. Nikko City is home to a variety of tourist attractions, including the Kinugawa River Boat Ride, a dynamic experience that involves descending a 6km long river while avoiding various rocks. Another popular tourist spot is Kinugawa Onsen, a hot springs destination with a long history dating back to the Edo period. Many visitors come from all over the country.
