Ichikai Town in Haga County borders two cities and three towns in Ibaraki Prefecture and is blessed with abundant nature, including Mt. Ikino and Tadara Swamp. The town's largest event, the Shibazakura Festival, begins in April. The carpet of shibazakura (moss phlox) that spreads across the grounds of Ichikai Town Shibazakura Park is a spectacular sight, drawing many visitors to this rare event. You can also admire the Thousand-Armed Kannon Statue on Kannonyama, a prefectural cultural property, and the magnificent plum blossoms from the Kannon Hall. Kumano Shrine, a town-designated cultural property, was built in 1038 and is a valuable architectural structure that tells the story of that time. Ichikai Town's specialty products are asparagus and plums. It is also known as a breeding ground for the Grey-faced Buzzard, a member of the hawk family, also known as the Great Fan.
