Yaizu City in Shizuoka Prefecture faces Suruga Bay and is conveniently located with the Tokaido Main Line and Tomei Expressway running through it. The fishing industry is thriving, centered around Yaizu Fishing Port, and its main specialties include seafood such as tuna, mackerel, and cherry shrimp. Other products made from these seafood include hanpen (fish cakes) and tsukudani (simmered fish cakes). Obure Coast, located within the city, is an important transportation hub connecting Shizuoka City. The views from here are breathtaking, making it one of Shizuoka Prefecture's most scenic spots. The area is also home to a brewery for major beer maker Sapporo Beer, making it a very active industrial area. The Yaizu Marine Fireworks Festival is an annual event, offering spectacular fireworks.
