About Mori Town
Morimachi, located in the western part of Shizuoka Prefecture, is a town blessed with a beautiful natural environment, surrounded on three sides by lush mountains, long known as Miki no Sato. It once flourished as a post town on the Akiha Kaido road, playing a key role in culture and trade. Until the early 1950s, local industries such as Enshu roofing tiles, tea factories, and lumber mills were the mainstay of the town. Today, transportation machinery, automobile, and electronics-related companies have expanded into the town, and the construction of the Second Tomei Expressway, a new major transportation artery, is attracting even more businesses. Totomi Morimachi's Bugaku dance and music has been designated an Important Intangible Folk Cultural Property, and the Nagi tree in the grounds of Amamiya Shrine has been designated a prefectural natural monument.
