Mishima City is located in the eastern part of Shizuoka Prefecture, at the north-central tip of the Izu Peninsula. Its urban area has long served as a temple town for Mishima Taisha Shrine. During the Edo period, it was a bustling post town on the Tokaido road, known as Mishima-juku. Since the establishment of its train station, the city has also functioned as a commuter town for Tokyo and Kanagawa. The city's climate is characterized by a Pacific Ocean climate, with almost no snowfall. The abundance of high-quality water has led to the presence of many companies related to the chemical fiber and paper industries, as well as automobile production bases, making it the economic center of the city. Field farming is also thriving, with many crops bearing the name Mishima, such as Mishima potatoes, Mishima radishes, and Mishima carrots, being distributed. Mishima Taisha Shrine within the city is a popular tourist spot, attracting many visitors.
