Iwata City in Shizuoka Prefecture is a city that actively promotes regional revitalization through a variety of industries, including traditional textiles, metalworking, and automobile manufacturing, as well as greenhouse farming of melons and white onions. Developed as a transportation hub since ancient times, the city remains well-connected. Iwata is also known as a sports town. It is home to J.League football team Jubilo Iwata, and various sports facilities are scattered throughout the city. Numerous festivals and events are held throughout the year, including the "Mitsuke Tenjin Naked Festival," a nationally designated Important Intangible Folk Cultural Property, and the "Enshu Daimyo Procession and Dance Carriage," a reenactment of a feudal lord's procession.
