Fukuroi City, which was re-established in 2005 through the merger of surrounding municipalities, has flourished as the 27th of the 53 Stations of the Tokaido Road. The Fukuroi Enshu Fireworks Competition, a national fireworks master selection competition, is an annual event where fireworks created by many fireworks masters from around the country are launched. The event attracts many tourists from across the country, offering the opportunity to see fireworks designs never before seen.
