Yasugi City borders Tottori and Shimane prefectures and was formed in 2004 through the merger of surrounding cities and towns. The Yasugi-bushi song is one of the most well-known folk songs in Japan. The area also produces high-quality specialty steel and boasts many historical buildings. Industry and agriculture are the mainstays of this region, resulting in local specialties such as pears, grapes, and loach dishes. There's a fairytale-like tourist spot where love is said to come true if you cross the bridge over the Yomei Kannon and Yomei Jizo statues. In spring, somei-yoshino cherry trees bloom all over Yasugi Park, and a cherry blossom festival is also held at the same time.
