Iinan Town, Iishi District, is located in the southern part of Shimane Prefecture, on the border with Hiroshima Prefecture. The town is surrounded by mountains over 100 meters high, and even the plains are over 400 meters above sea level, making it one of Shimane Prefecture's most famous highland areas. Several rivers run through the town, allowing you to live surrounded by nature. The town receives a lot of snow in the winter, so many people flock to Akagi Kogen Ski Resort. Also, during apple season, you can pick and eat fresh apples at Akagi Kogen Tourist Apple Orchard. Mt. Sanbe is also registered as an active volcano, and there are several hot springs surrounding the area, allowing you to experience the Earth's activity up close.
