About Toyosato-cho

Toyosato Town in Inukami District borders three cities and towns in Shiga Prefecture. The Inukami River flows through the town, and the area is surrounded by idyllic rural scenery. This area is known as the birthplace of the Goshu Ondo dance. The town's major event, the Bon Odori Festival, is held in August, where visitors can enjoy the Goshu Ondo dances, including the Ehigasa Dance and Ogi Dance. Local specialties include Botchan pumpkins, persimmons, strawberries, cyclamen, and buckwheat. The town is also home to many tourist attractions, including Ajiki Shrine, said to be the oldest garden in the area, dating back 1,500 years, with its long stretch of pond-style gardens and islands, where visitors can enjoy the changing natural scenery of the seasons. Other notable sites include Hakusan Shrine, the ruins of Yoshida Castle, the ruins of Hachicho Castle, and Kurenai Garden.
