About Ai Sho-cho
Aisho Town in Aichi County is surrounded by the Aichi River, Uso River, and Iwakura River, all of which are first-class rivers, and has long been deeply connected to water. Much of the town is covered in rice paddies, and the magnificent natural environment has fostered the development of agriculture and various other industries. Rhododendrons bloom in spring, while the autumn foliage is beautiful. Taisho yams, a traditional Shiga vegetable, are highly nutritious and are said to have been cultivated for medicinal purposes. The Shinkansen runs through the town, and National Route 8 runs through the west, providing convenient transportation. Major tourist attractions include Saimyo-ji Temple, Baekje-ji Temple, and the Tendai sect's Kongorin-ji Temple. The Aichigawa Gion Summer Festival, held in July, features a fireworks display that has been held since the Edo period and attracts large crowds every year.
