Wako City is located in the southernmost part of Saitama Prefecture, bordering Tokyo's Nerima and Itabashi wards. It has developed as a suburban city of Tokyo, and is home to numerous major corporations and commercial facilities. At the same time, it also retains a wealth of greenery, including the spacious Wako Forest Park and the Arakawa and Shirako Rivers, making it a city blessed with abundant nature. In season, Wako Forest Park is filled with blooming trees such as safflower horse chestnuts, tulip trees, and spiraea. The Niikura Furusato Minkaen, believed to be the oldest private home in the prefecture, is registered as a prefectural cultural property. Every January, Wako City hosts the "Nippon Nationwide Nabe Battle," a grand event that attracts many participants from all over the country. Carrots, a local specialty, are also thriving in the city.
