About Satte City
One of Satte City's geographical features is its almost flat land. While there are natural levees, most of the land is low-lying, less than 15 meters above sea level. The city has many irrigation channels and four lakes. One of these, Kamiogi Pond, is also a municipal fishing spot. Agriculture is also practiced, and a variety of rice called "shiromome" is grown. Famous sites include Gongendo Bank, Taira no Masakado's grave, Gyoko Lake, and the Yoshinobu Kōga no Hi (Monument to the Suffering of a Poor Man). Gongendo Bank is one of Saitama Prefecture's most famous cherry blossom avenues, with approximately 1,000 cherry trees planted there. Events in Satte City include a cherry blossom festival and a photography contest.
