Located in the center of Saitama Prefecture, Okegawa City once thrived as a farming and post town. Currently, the area is being revitalized through peach cultivation, where some farmland remains, and through residential construction. Thanks to the accessibility of JR East and expressways such as the Tohoku Expressway and the Kanetsu Expressway, the area enjoys excellent transportation access. The Okegawa Gion Festival is held here every year in mid-July. Products made with safflower are a local specialty. The Benihana Furusatokan (Benibana Hometown Museum) hosts various events and offers safflower viewing, attracting many tourists. The area is also famous for its large population of people with the rare surname Wakutsu, which is rare nationwide.
