About Konosu City
Konosu City is located in central eastern Saitama Prefecture, at the northern end of the Omiya Plateau. The Arakawa River flows to the west and the Minumadai Irrigation Canal flows to the northeast. Its climate is Pacific coastal, with many sunny days in winter. Formerly home to Konosu-juku, a post town on the Nakasendo road, Konosu thrived as a post town. Today, it also functions as a commuter town for Tokyo. Its main industries are plastic products and various electrical control devices, and its specialty products include Hina dolls and floriculture. With a history of over 380 years as a Hina doll production center, Konosu flourished as one of the three largest doll markets in the Kanto region during the mid-Edo period. Major tourist attractions include Shoganji Temple, Konosu Shrine, the Idezuka Ruins, and the Idezuka Kofun Group.
