In autumn, cosmos flowers bloom everywhere in Kamikawa Town, Kodama District. Pears are also a local specialty, and many pear shops open during the season. The town borders four other cities, including Honjo City, as well as Fujioka City in Gunma Prefecture. Tourist attractions include the Kanagawa Onsen Hakuju no Yu, Sanbashiki Gorge, Shiromine Park, and Shimokubo Dam. Events include the Kamikawa Town Cosmos Festival in October and the Kamikawa Ekiden Race in January. The town tree of Kamikawa Town, Kodama District, is the winter cherry blossom, the town flower is the cosmos, and the town bird is the Japanese bush warbler. The town merged with Kamiizumi Village in 2006, marking the start of a new town structure.
