The eastern area of Hidaka City is flat, but the western area is hilly due to the eastern foothills of the Sotochichibu Mountains. Several golf courses have been built to take advantage of this terrain. Many hikers also visit the city, as hiking trails around Hiwadayama and Kinchakudan have been well-maintained. There are also many housing complexes, and residential development has been underway in recent years. Famous sites include Kinchakudan, Nonomiya Shrine, Kinchakudan, Gojo Falls, and Taitaki Fudoson. The city also hosts events such as the Manjushage Festival and the Hidaka Citizens' Festival.
