Higashichichibu Village in Chichibu District has long been a center of washi paper production. It is as famous as Ogawa Town as a producer of the washi paper known as Hosokawashi. Located at the upper reaches of the Tsuki River, the village is surrounded by many mountains. Agriculture, forestry, and industry are thriving here, with agriculture producing a wide variety of produce, including konjac potatoes, rice, wheat, mandarin oranges, and apples. Forestry involves reforestation and the shipping of cedar and cypress. Higashichichibu Village in Chichibu District is surrounded by abundant nature, attracting many tourists who come for hiking. Other popular tourist spots include Hanamomo no Sato and Washi no Sato. At Washi no Sato, you can experience papermaking and other crafts. It is the only village in Saitama Prefecture where you can do so.
