The town's specialty products include Ayabe botamochi (rice cakes), eel, tomatoes, and asparagus, and agriculture is thriving. Tourist attractions include Yamada Waterside Park, where children play in the pond in the summer, and Mine Creek Park, home to the Crayfish Bridge. Events include the Chikuri Hachiman Shrine porridge tasting, held in March.
