About Nose Town
Located in the northernmost part of Osaka Prefecture, Nose Town in Toyono District is blessed with abundant nature, surrounded on all sides by mountains such as Miyama and Kenoyama. Due to its mountainous location, the temperature difference between the town and Osaka city is approximately 5-6°C, making summers extremely comfortable. Known as a popular summer resort, Nose Town is sometimes described as Osaka's Karuizawa or Osaka's Tibet. Dotted with numerous historical cultural assets and sites, including Mt. Myoken, home to the Nose Myoken-do Temple near its summit, and the Thousand-Armed Kannon Statue at Konyoji Temple, Nose Town is a popular tourist destination. Local specialties include Nose chestnuts, considered the finest quality, thick-fleshed matsutake mushrooms, and botan (Japanese botan) stew made with wild boar meat grown on the bounty of the satoyama (mountainside mountains).
