Tondabayashi City, located in the Minamikawachi region of Osaka Prefecture, flourished as a highway leading to Kii Province. It serves as the center of the Minamikawachi region. While development continues as a commuter town, the area also boasts a well-developed natural environment. Neighboring municipalities include Sakai City, Kawachinagano City, and Osaka Sayama City. The city's specialty is bamboo blinds. Bamboo blinds made in Tondabayashi City are known as Osaka Kongo blinds and are considered a luxury item. Tourist attractions include Nishikiori Shrine, whose main hall is a designated Important Cultural Property of Japan; Kusunoki-an Kannon-ji Temple, famous for its autumn foliage; and Gansho-ji Temple, famous for its plum blossoms. The annual Dashi float festival, held every October, is a traditional event in which ninwaka offerings are made to the shrine.
