Hirano Ward, located in the center of Osaka Prefecture, is the most populous of Osaka City's 24 wards. Hirano Ward, Osaka City, is home to one of the few facilities in Japan where you can experience making food replicas. The food replicas you make can then be turned into key chains or magnets, making it a popular spot for tourists and children on field trips. In addition, in a corner of Zenkoji Temple, there is a small candy store museum. It recreates a candy store from the 1940s and 1950s, and displays home appliances from that time, such as televisions and washing machines, and also hosts live kamishibai (paper theater) performances. Several place names in the ward include the character "melon" (瓜).
