Fukushima Ward, Osaka City, was a farming village during the Edo period. From the Meiji period onward, industrial development progressed, and the area flourished with textile factories and other facilities. Many automobile parts factories also moved in, creating a large industrial zone. However, after the war, the factories were gradually relocated, and the area now thrives as a commercial and residential area. Tourist attractions in the area include Yasaka Shrine, Fukushima Tenmangu Shrine, and Noda Ebisu Shrine. Yasaka Shrine holds a summer festival in July and an autumn festival in October. Fukushima Tenmangu Shrine holds a spring festival in April, a summer festival in July, and an autumn festival in October. Noda Ebisu Shrine holds various festivals from January to December. This area is also known as the birthplace of Fukuzawa Yukichi, whose portrait appears on the 10,000 yen bill.
